DAY 1: ONE – DAY MEKONG DELTA TRIP: CAI BE & VINH LONG [L]
After breakfast, your tour guide will meet you at your hotel. You'll then depart Ho Chi Minh City for the Mekong Delta, specifically heading to the provinces of Cai Be and Vinh Long—approximately a 2.5-hour drive. In the Mekong region, life revolves around the waterways; many aspects of daily life, including work and local markets, take place on the rivers.
As you travel, take in views of expansive green rice fields stretching toward the horizon. Upon arriving in Cai Be, you’ll board a boat for a scenic journey through the lush landscapes of the Mekong Delta and witness the authentic daily life of local residents.
The tour continues with a rowing boat ride through a network of shaded canals, eventually arriving at a fruit orchard where you can sample tropical fruits and explore local crafts. Visit traditional workshops where locals make coconut candy, rice paper, popped rice, popcorn, and rice wine. Enjoy fresh seasonal fruits and a live performance of “Cai Luong,” a form of traditional Southern folk opera.
Take a break for lunch at Ba Kiet’s ancient house, a heritage home built in 1838 surrounded by a peaceful garden. You’ll have time to stroll around the garden before heading back to Ho Chi Minh City.
