Southern center to set up security force to help tourists

Vietnam’s southern hub and tourist attraction Ho Chi Minh City is planning to establish a security force to protect and help visitors to the city, according to local tourism authorities.

The security force protecting visitors is to be launched in October, first off operating in four major precincts in District 1, the city’s heart, HCMC Tourism Department says.

The security force will protect visitors from robbery, snatch-and-run thefts, and other possible offenses, as well as handle tourist requests for information, the department says.

The department is going to submit the plan to the HCMC People’s Committee for approval by the end of this week.
